Barcelona vs Roma
Champions League Quarter Final
Date: Wednesday, 4th April 2018
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Camp Nou (Barcelona).
Barcelona welcome Roma for the first leg of Champions League quarter final tie and the Spanish giants will be keen to make the most of familiar conditions at the Camp Nou.
The Catalans overcame Chelsea by a 4-1 aggregate in the previous round, on the back of a sublime 3-0 win at home. This has been their case in the competition this season, sloppy on the road and extravagant at their own backyard. They scored a total of 11 goals from the 4 games at Camp Nou, while just 2 in as many games on the road. Except a narrow 1-0 win at Sporting, Barcelona haven’t won another away game this season, which makes the first leg of quarter final tie extremely important. A win by 2 goal margin will be the minimum target.
Roma defeated Shakhtar in the round of 16, which came after a 2-1 loss in the first leg away from home. At Rome, they won 1-0, but it was a match hanging in the balance until the final whistle.
Just like their quarter final opponent, the Giallorossi’s best results in the tournament have come at home. Still, the only standout performance is the 3-0 humbling of Chelsea. Away from home, Roma are traditionally poor. Their lone win in 14 outings came this season, however it is against the minnows Qarabag, who were making their first appearance at the competition.
Barcelona vs Roma: Head-to-head
Little to separate between the two teams as they share 1 win and 2 draws from their 4 meetings in Champions League, all occurred in the group phase of the competition.
It was a surprise back in 2002 when Roma bagged a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou before winning 3-0 at their own backyard.
The 2015 edition also saw the first meeting ending in a 1-1 stalemate at Rome. But Barcelona thrashed the Italians 6-1 in the return leg with Messi and Suarez scored twice, while Neymar missed a penalty.
Barcelona vs Roma: Prediction
Bara are sitting on an unbeaten record at Camp Nou in all competitions this season and they give away points only twice during that period. In Champions League this season, they won 4 out of 4 and scored at least twice in each game. And their last defeat in the tournament has to be dated back to 2013 and they come with a 15 match unbeaten run in that aspect with wins in 13.
Roma did well to reach this far, but they do not have a strong record in away games. They lost at Shakhtar Donetsk in the previous round which leave them on a three match win-less run on the road. Their win at Qarabag on matchday 1 remains to be their only win in 14 away nights in the tournament.
Barcelona to win priced at odds as low as 1.22 is justified because of the above status. Also, most of us believe this is a cake walk for the Catalans. This is the main reason why we pick the bets too boost the winning odds.
Barcelona vs Roma: Bet Tips
My first option is HT/FT – 1/1 and Over 2.5 goals combo @ 2.15 odd at 10bet.
Meantime, Barcelona to win on -1.75 Asian Handicap for 1.86 odd with the same firm is a decent alternate.
