Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is preparing to enter the transfer market with a very clear idea of whom to sign to reinforce the squad for the second half of the second.
The FIFA enforced transfer ban will be lifted in January and the Catalan club will be able to register players again. The reigning La Liga Champions have already signed Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively in the summer, but were unable to play a competitive game until the ban period is finished.
Since taking over at Barcelona, Enrique has made specific requests to the board about whom he wants to bring in. A typical example is the acquisition of Claudio Bravo and Mathieu, even when the club have ready signed Ter Stegen and Vermaelen.
In a similar fashion, the Spanish coach wants players who have proved their metal in top flight football, keeping an account of their performance in the past six months.
The first in the list is Notilo, the former Barca B player who currently plays his trade with Celta Vigo. The striker is having a terrific run with Celta since joining them on a permanent basis last season and has earned the call from Del Bosque for the Spain national squad.
The 29-year old is valued at 18 million euros and having previously worked under Luis Enrique at both Barcelona B and Celta, he is seen as a welcome addition to the current set-up.
The second option is Jonathan Soriano, who has also played under Luis Enrique in the reserve side. The 30-year old striker, who currently plays for Red Bull Salzburg has been prolific scorer in the Austrian league since past few seasons. He has scored 30 goals in the last two seasons and has 14 goals to his name in 16 matches in this season.
The third option is Denis Suarez, whom Luis Enrique wants re-sign in January. The former Manchester City youth player was signed by Barcelona in 2013. After spending a season on loan at Sevilla, he was sold to Villarreal in the summer.
Barcelona have a buy-back clause inserted which would cost them 3 million euros if they want to bring him in June. For January this could raise to 4.5 million. Suarez seems the most feasible option and both clubs are in talks to reach an agreement. The 21-year old would like to return to Barcelona even though he recently stated that he is only focusing on Villarreal at the moment.
But whoever comes in, will have to serve as a back-up with absolutely little room in am attack bossed by Messi, Suarez and Neymar.
