Six days into the El Classico, Messi is progressing well in training for the big match on Saturday. Not yet 100% fit, the Barcelona faithfuls are hopeful that their star players make the first team against their biggest rivals. But if anything goes wrong Luis Enrique has a plan-B.
The plan is to unleash Messi for just half an hour. He will start-off from the bench and will be introduced in the second half in about 60 minutes into the game.
But it can all change depending on how the knee responds during the final hours before the crash. Nothing can’t be 100% confirmed yet since there are six days into the clash at the Santiago Bernebeu.
The situation surrounding the Argentine is kept confidential at the moment. Barca B team coach, Gerard Lopez confirmed that Messi is training with his team and doing well and is confident that he will make the first team against Real Madrid.
Since he was injured in last September 26 against Las Palmas, the priority was not to accelerate his return. According to the deadlines given by doctors, which was seven to eight weeks, was aimed at getting the player ready for the game against Real Madrid. But neither doctors nor physiotherapists, and Luis Enrique or the player himself it wanted to project this as a target of now or never.
Also, considering the fact that Blaugrana has managed to succeed without their star player with the likes of Neymar and Luis Suarez. The duo formed a formidable partnership in the absence of Messi and made sure the Argentine is not missed at Camp Nou.
In Barcelona there is less anxiety at Messi’s return to the starting eleven as they feel has enough quality to go against Real Madrid on Saturday. And if required Luis Enrique will unleash his trump card in the second half rather than risking him if not fully fit.
