Atalanta vs Chievo
Italian Serie A
Date: Sunday, 4th February 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia (Bergamo).
Atalanta will be keen on rebounding after a midweek loss to Juventus in the Coppa Italia when they host Chievo on Sunday.
La Dea have been quite impressive so far this term and will be bitterly disappointed with their showings in the Coppa Italia. Having lost 1-0 to the Bianconeri on home turf, they will now face an uphill battle if they want to make the final as they now have to play the second leg in Turin. They now turn their attention towards Serie A affairs and securing their place in the top six for a Europa League berth, and fortunately they’re taking on Chievo, a side who have been in lousy form as of late.
The Flying Donkeys are hardly flying lately. They’re winless in their last nine games across all comps and are only five points above the drop zone. Furthermore, they have lost all but two of their last six trips to Atalanta and haven’t beaten La Dea since December 2015.
On a personal note, Gian Piero Gasperini have won eight Serie A games as a manager against Chievo, which is more than against any other side. Not good reading for long-serving Chievo boss Rolando Maran, who’s desperate to see his side pick up three points and move closer towards the 40 or so points they need to achieve safety.
Chievo are winless in their last seven road games and have lost their last four. That bodes well for Atalanta who will be keen on getting back to winning ways and securing their Europa League spot for next term.

- Chievo have won only once in their last 10 Serie A matches against Atalanta (D4 L5), back in December 2015 (1-0 at home)
- Chievo are without a win since last November in the league
- Since then, they have drawn two and lost six of their eight league games
- That’s their longest winless run in Serie A since November 2014.
Atalanta vs Chievo: Prediction
With Chievo without a win since November, expect Atalanta to take advantage of this and add more misery to the Flying Donkeys’ woes. Furthermore, Chievo haven’t beaten La Dea in over two years. All but one of the last eight meetings have seen less than three goals scored, so under 2.5 goals and a win for Atalanta seems like par for the course this Sunday.
Atalanta vs Chievo: Bet tips
Atalanta – WIN at 1.36
