The first game at Riverside finished 1-0 for the Villans with Mile Jedinak scoring the only goal. The return leg was a goalless draw which booked Steve Bruce and his boys a place in the final.
Fulham had a tremendous finish of the season and barely missed on direct promotion in the last round losing to Birmingham. In the semifinal they had a stern test against Derby County. Fulham dominated the first game at Pride Park but the hosts survived and even claimed a minimal victory after Camron Jerome score in the 34th minute. Fulham also dominated the second leg this time at their Craven Cottage. Cottagers were the better side and young winger Ryan Sessegnon took matters in his own hands. He scored the first goal and then assisted Odoi for the second for a 2-1 aggregate score victory.
Aston Villa have plenty of experience especially at the back while Fulham has crazy amount of pace and sharpness up front pressing high searching for goals. Key battle will be between Aston Villa captain John Terry and Fulham’s winter acquisition Mitrovic. If John Terry manages to close this attacking threat The Villans have an outstanding chance to get a victory but if Mitrovic gets the ball behind his opposition things may get ugly for Aston Villa.
