Various media sources have earlier confirmed that the Egypt born midfielder is in London to complete the £7.4 million transfer and that he would be officially presented this week.

The deal with the player and club has been agreed as early as on Boxing Day, but has been delayed due to approval of work permit and visa to play in England.

The 21-year old will become Arsenal’s first signing in the winter and is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year deal.

Injuries to Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla have weakened Arsenal in the midfield area and both are not expected to return to full fitness until the end of February.

While Jack Wilshere is yet to make a single appearance this season after suffering a hairline fracture at the start of the season and his realistic return date is still unknown.

It will be interesting to see if Wenger will be forced to make any more signings in the winter as one of their transfer target Nolito is reported to have agreed terms with Barcelona.

The Gunners are also rumored to be monitoring Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, but his high price tag may stop them from making a big until next summer.
