Arsenal set to announce the signing of defensive midfielder Mohamed El Neny from FC Basel for a transfer fee of a £7m.
The 23-year old is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year contract with the Gunners, the confirmation of which was so far delayed due to work permit.
El Nenny has been a key player for FC Basel in their Europa League campaign this season. An anchoring midfielder by trade, he is also capable of getting forward and contribute goals when necessary.
He is already capped 39 times by the Egypt national team despite his age and has made over 150 senior appearances for Basel.
Arsenal are also expected to sign another midfield fielder due to the injuries to Coquelin and Cazorla, who were instrumental in Arsenal’s success at the start of the season.
And Jack Wilshere is yet to make a single appearance for the club this season after picking a fracture in his left leg on 15th September 2015.
As reported earlier, the next player in line could be either one from Porto defensive midfielder Danilo Perrera or Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak.
Arsenal are currently first in the English Premier League and is expected to have a strong shot at the title than in previous years.
But in a similar fashion to the previous seasons, the squad depth is once again tested due to injuries to their key players.
