Haiti will have the honour of being the first of two tests for Argentina ahead of the World Cup in Russia. This will be the last chance for Lionel Messi’s generation to claim the international glory and lift the silverware.
Albiceleste are, however, by no means main title favourites in Russia. They’ve had a turbulent campaign in the South American Qualifications which saw them barely clinch the top-four finish thanks only to the last round’s win away at Ecuador.
Moving forward, the hosts will come into this game looking to recover from the humiliating 6-1 loss to Spain in March friendly. Haiti are the perfect opposition for Jorge Sampaoli’s troops to boost up their confidence after such trashing and ahead of the shot for the crown at the biggest international stage.

Haiti failed to make it to the final 5th round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications after clinching just four points in six matches in the group with Costa Rica, Panama and Jamaica. Nevertheless, the team proved out to be very tough to break down back then conceding just four goals in the process. This will be the first match of the year for the visitors who will come into it high on confidence after a streak of two games without a loss against the likes of Japan and UAE in friendly back from October last year.
These successes will count for little when Haiti come face to face with the star-studded and highly-motivated Argentina side.
