Alaves vs Real Madrid
Spanish La Liga
Date: Saturday, 6 October 2018
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Estadio de Mendizorroza (Vitoria-Gazteiz).
Real Madrid extended the crisis by failing to find the back of the net for the third time in a row on Tuesday evening when they fell 1-0 to CSKA Moscow in the second round of the Champions League. Los Blancos are clearly struggling to accommodate to life without Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane who both left the club after winning the third consecutive UCL title.
Julen Lopetegui’s men actually got off to a rather fine start in La Liga, but their form has seen a massive slide of late. The reason can be found in issues with the list of sidelined players as Real Madrid did not have a full line-up in a while.
Lopetegui has huge problems with the back line as both Marcelo and Sergio Ramos are expected to skip the trip to Vitoria-Gazteiz too, while Gareth Bale and Daniel Carvajal remain in doubt. The Welshman skipped the CSKA Moscow loss in mid-week, while first-choice right-back Carvajal has to be substituted in the first half of the game.
Alaves vs Real Madrid: Head-to-head
Real Madrid completely dominated this match-up over the course of history.
Los Blancos won 13, drew 2 and lost just 1 of 16 head to head affairs against Babazorros.
Los Blancos will come into this off the back of nine straight wins in matches against Alaves.
Alaves vs Real Madrid: Prediction
The hosts have been enjoying a fine spell of form so far in the season, but they’ll also come into the match in lower spirits following a disappointing 2-1 loss to the struggling Levante side away at Ciudad de Valencia last weekend.
Babazorros still sit sky-high 6th in the league ladder and they go into this undefeated in three games on the home patch. The team led by Abelardo allowed just two goals in three home outings so far in the season and we feel the reigning Champions League winners might struggle to create up front without some of their players on disposal (Isco is also injured and will likely skip the match against Alaves).
The value is thus huge in backing Babazorros not to lose at 3.00, while the more conservative punters can try with the hosts not to lose by two or more goals difference at 1.75.
