Al Ahli vs Al Sadd
AFC Champions League
Date: Monday, 14 May 2018
Kick-Off at 18:40 UK / 19:40 CET
Venue: King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah.
Al Sadd got off to a phenomenal start seven days ago when they grabbed an early two-goal cushion against the favourites Al Ahli. It was Boualem Khoukhi who bagged an early brace for the Qatari outfit, but sadly to the head coach Jesualdo Ferreira, his men could not hold on to such a comprehensive lead, conceding just after the break.
A goal scored by Mohanad Aseri left the Saudi Arabian squad in the tie, keeping them favourites to advance in spite of the defeat in the first leg played in Doha. Al Ahli have sky-high ambitions in this term of the AFC Champions League. They are led by the Ukrainian legend Serhiy Rebrov and they cruised past rivals to top the Group A with four wins and two draws in six matches. The last 16 round could have been less cruel for them given that Al Sadd are probably among the strongest teams which finished the group phase at the second place.
Al Ahli vs Al Sadd: Head-to-head
The two teams locked horns in the group stage of the 2008 campaign when Al Sadd took four points from two matches with Al Ahli.
Both of these ties played ten years ago saw goal fests. Knowing that the first leg of this term’s R16 clash brought three goals and saw both teams on target, we have reasons to expect another high-scoring contest in the reverse fixture at King Abdullah Sports City.
Al Ahli vs Al Sadd: Prediction
The famous Portuguese manager Jesualdo Ferreira has a lethal attacking lineup, led by Baghdad Bounedjah who notched seven goals in six group stage matches. Boualem Khoukhi was the one who stole the show in the first leg netting twice, and we have reasons to believe the visitors will be able to find the back of the net past Mohammed Al Owais at least once on Monday.
Al Ahli are cruel towards their rivals at home where they won 12 and drew 3 of last 15 games in all competitions. We thus have to back three or more goals as the main bet worth taking with higher stakes at the 1.60 odds, while the home win is also a very likable scenario which can be backed at 1.70.
