Akhisarspor vs Fenerbahce
Turkish Cup
Date: Thursday, 10 May 2018
Kick-Off at 18:30 UK / 19:30 CET
Venue: Diyarbakir Yeni Stadyumu, Diyarbakir.
Akhisarspor were on the brink of suffering an early last 16 round elimination when they lost the first leg to the second-tier outfit Boluspor 2-1 on the road in December last year. They managed to clinch a narrow win in the rematch to go through on goal difference and they eventually went all the way to the final after a miraculous 0-2 win in the reverse fixture of the semis against Galatasaray.
Can Akigo shock everyone and lift the trophy on Thursday when they are set to play Fenerbahce in the battle for the silverware? It’s really hard to believe in such scenario if we take a look at their recent form in Super Lig. Okan Buruk’s men lost five and drew three of last eight league matches and they will be up against an outfit which won seven on the bounce across competitions here.
Akigo proved out to be a tricky opposition to Fenerbahce over the course of history.
Akhisarspor won five and lost just six of 12 head to head games with the Yellow Canaries.
Furthermore, Akigo won each of last league ties against Fenerbahce.
The H2H wins will count for little for Akhisar here as Fener are massive form favourites. The only advantage for Buruk’s side might lie in the fact the visitors are in the midst of the battle for the title and the Champions League spots in Super Lig, but we still see Akigo as heavy underdogs ahead of the clash. The odds of 1.72 offered for the away win pick look good enough for us and we’ll take them all day long under these circumstances.
Fener scored as many as 13 goals in last four wins, including three in the reverse fixture of the Cup semis against bitter rivals and the defending Super Lig champions Besiktas. The Yellow Canaries are worth backing to net two or more goals here at the odds of 1.85.
Fenerbahce to win @ 1.72
Fenerbahce Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 1.85.
