Ajax vs Sparta Rotterdam: Prediction
The Lancers unleashed all of their rage on a weakly ADO Den Haag in a 6-1 drubbing, ending their winless streak and finishing the year in style.
De Godenzonen are the supreme ruler of Dutch football, playing a perfect season up until December; Champions League elimination shook them to the core and they’ve suffered two losses at the hands of high flying Willem II and superbly talented kindergarten down at Alkmaar.
Willem II ended their flawless record at Johan Cruijff Arena in a surprising defeat with both goals coming near the end of both half; Ten Hag’s men recovered quickly, trashing managerless ADO, reinstating the status quo and announcing another reign of terror. If you think I’m exaggerating, look at the numbers; eight wins, one defeat, goal difference of 34-5. Ridiculous…
Sparta headed into the game on the back of three without a victory and still ended up besting AZ 3-0, foiling their unstoppable form and putting Ajax back in the lead.
Henk Fraser’s pupils have been playing above all expectations. Everyone had them frantically struggling for survival but De Kasteelheren proved them all wrong and currently sit proudly at 11th, eight points away from predicted relegation dogfight.
But most of good work was done at their Castle. In the wilderness though, they aren’t as impressive. Six points collected and one win, long forgotten, from back in August. Last point Castle Lords picked up on the road was in September, from 0-0 draw with Fortuna. Since then, defeat after defeat after defeat…
David Neres and Zakaria Labyad are familiar faces in Ajax’s injury report but most recently Daley Blind fell to an illness and it is unknown whether will he be up for a clash v Sparta, who don’t have such worries; Alberto remains their only absentee.
The Sons of Gods have been racking up victories with multiple goals margin all season; in front of their own fans all but one was smashing with 3 or more goal difference. This leads me to believe they’ll do it again; De Kasteelheren are an entirely different beast away from home and they won’t pose any threat to fresh and well rested Lancers.
Now, Ajax have a tendency against weaker sides, where first half is calm before unleashing storm of fury and might in the second half. With that in mind, I’m going with goals in the second 45 minutes. Lots of goals. It is bit riskier so proceed with caution…
