AEL expectedly removed all doubts about making their way to the second qualifying round of this term of Europa League with a comprehensive 0-4 win in the first leg at EStadio do Algarve.

The rematch in Limassol will thus only be a formality, but we expect the hosts to claim yet another demolishing win to boost up the confidence ahead of the second round tie.

AEL Limassol

The Portuguese manager Bruno Baltazar created a true little Portuguese colony by signing a host of acquisitions from his country ahead of the new season.

The star men are Spanish veterans Arruabarrena and Piti, the Portuguese trio Marco Soares, Mesca and Dossa Junior and the Brazilian Lucas Souza.

Kevin Pierre Laffrance of Haiti stole the show by netting a brace in the first leg.

St. Joseph’s

The visitors came third at the end of the season in the top flight of the Gibraltar football last year.

The record of 16 wins, six draws and five losses in Gibraltar is certainly not encouraging for the Spanish manager Raul Procopio to expect anything else but convincing defeats in the continental competition.

The only name worth mentioning from their squad is the one of Jose Manuel Jimenez Ortiz who used to play for Getafe, Almeria and Maccabi Tel Aviv at his prime.

AEL Limassol vs St Joseph’s: Head to head

The clash from last Thursday was the first ever head to head encounter between the two teams.

Mikel Arruabarena broke the deadlock four minutes in the game to push AEL ahead, The Gibraltar outfit held it to a one-goal deficit all up until the start of the second half when the Cypriots bagged three more goals to confirm the quality.

The bookmakers are more than generous offering the 5/6 odds on Over 1.5 goals in the first half which is a must take bet considering the gulf in quality between the two teams.
