AC Milan vs Atalanta
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday 23 September 2018
Kick-Off: 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Stadio San Siro (Milan).
AC Milan and Atalanta have not had the best seasons so far, but they will be hoping to get back on track as they lock horns at the Stadio San Siro on Sunday.
The Rossoneri have struggled to get their domestic campaign up and running and they will hope to take advantage of Atalanta’s less than strong away form to put some points on the board.
Milan do have a game in hand because their opener was cancelled following the bridge collapse in Genoa, so their lower league standing is compounded by this fact.
That being said, they still have not fully clicked into gear and their two objectives – a top four spot and going deep into the Europa League – have a long way to achieving fruition.
Against minnows Dudelange, many would have expected it to be a more convincing win, but they nonetheless narrowly squeezed by with a goal from Gonzalo Higuain.
At the same time Gennaro Gattuso opted to heavily rotate his squad, and hopefully that strategy will pay off ahead of Sunday’s match against Atalanta.
La Dea have been in bad form as of late and have won just one of their four Serie A games. Gian Piero Gasperini is banned for this fixture after apparently uttering a “blasphemous” phrase that was caught on camera.
Atalanta recently suffered back to back losses against SPAL and Cagliari, two teams that they would have been expected to beat and will be hoping to rebound against a Milan side yet to hit top form.

- Atalanta are undefeated in their last 6 matches against AC Milan in all competitions

- Milan have seen under 2.5 goals in six of their last seven home fixtures against Atalanta
AC Milan vs Atalanta: Prediction
Milan earned a narrow win over debutants Dudelange and they weren’t impressive against Cagliari, fighting back to secure a 1-1 draw against a team who are not among the top sides in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Atalanta have been in dire straits, but La Dea have a strong record against the Rossoneri at the San Siro, where they are unbeaten in their last four.
This could end up being a low-scoring draw as there have been under 2.5 goals in all but one of Milan’s last seven games at home versus Atalanta.
