Aberdeen vs Apollon Limassol
2017/18 UEFA Europa League Qualification – Third Round
Date: Thursday, 27th July 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium.
Aberdeen managed to survive Siroki Brijeg scare in the second round of the competition after plying only a 1-1 draw in the first leg in front of their fans.
The away win in Bosnia and Herzegovina has thus booked the Dons third round fixtures with Cypriot Apollon.
Derek McInnes’ men showed a strong attacking shape in pre-season friendlies.
The Dons bagged four past Brechin City on Sunday to announce the first leg of the tie with Apollon.
Midfielder Ryan Christie and forward Greig Stewart were the key figures in the win over Siroki Brijeg.
The team will be stronger for their star man Adam Rooney who seems to be fully recovered from his injury and who is set to make an appearance against the Cypriot outfit.
Apollon lost three consecutive games during their pre-season schedule, but they did not have any troubles storming past Moldovan Zaria Balti with two comprehensive wins.
However, the Dons will be a much tougher challenge and Sofronis Avgousti and his men will have to significantly improve their performances from pre-season friendlies if they want to hope for the upset at Pittodrie Stadium.
