Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes that the Blues must revamp their squad in the summer after watching the team struggle in the league this season.
The experienced midfielder who made over 400 appearance for Chelsea says “it’s shocking” to see his former club at the foot of the Premier League table, but he is still hopeful of a decent finish at the end of the season.
The defending Champions are 14th in the English Premier League after 22 matches, just four points above the relegation zone.
They are unbeaten in the last six games, but look far from the team they used to be in previous seasons.
Lampard suggests that Chelsea need four or five new signings next season to turn the things at Stamford Bridge.
“From seeing some of the games I saw when I was back in England over the Christmas period, I think they need a new injection around the team.
“It’s strange because a year ago, you’re thinking, ‘They’ve got a great squad and if they add to it they can really go.’
“Now you’re thinking, ‘They need to revamp, to change some players.’ I think that will happen in the summer. I think there will be three or four or five players and positions in the team that change around.”
“We’re not used to Chelsea in this position. I was really fortunate to be part of a really good era. A bad season was like second, third, or fourth at the most, so I think it’s shocking.”
